Making Something Out Of Nothing

It is believed that if you throw it away, it is not worth keeping. Americans throw away millions of pounds of fresh and sustainable food that has gone to waste. Some are out of our control, and some are due to sustainability within the system we as people are placed in. From composting and reusing these foods in your garden, freeze or store them for a broth/stock. Saving the seed from simple fruit and veggies for replanting or sharing with others. From an In-home or outside garden, canning, freezing products, and drying goods for storage with the proper equipment to house your needs. You can create many ways to take the simplest thing and make it into seasoning, herbs, or even spices. Prepping your home for the season and what you may be selling or donating to your local/non-local communities.

Pickling Salt / Sugar Canned Veggies, Fruit & Meat Products

Kosher salt and sugar are predominantly used in canning, drying, and freezing food products. When canning, kosher or table salt is used on veggies and certain fruits. This is also used on frozen products like zip-lock or vacuum-sealed bags. Sugar-based broth from granulated form or liquid sugar. This includes honey, syrups, and brown sugar.

Herbs and spices also create a hold for products that can be long-lasting and have flavor.

Marinating meats, poultry, seafoods, or swine/pig, this also includes veggies and pasta’s hold not only flavors but enhances one’s own palate. With these herbs, spices, as well as onions (variety), it not only gives an illusion, but gives a meaning to each flavor.
